First of all, a heartfelt thank you to my friend, John Cizmar, for helping me get this new site up and running (well, he didn’t help… he did it while I watched scratching my head. Thanks, John!)
As you can see by reading this post, I now have a new blog embedded in the main Spoke Digital Films website. Hopefully things will be streamlined and much easier for me and for visitors to the site. Please check back frequently for new content or (better yet) subscribe to our rss feed.
In addition to updating the site, it’s been a great couple of weeks for my documentary, Shielded Brutality. I have two exciting interviews coming up soon (one with Attorney Standish Willis and one with Dr. Calvin Morris). The Cook County Board hearing last week provided great footage and (much more importantly) provided an opportunity for the County to actually take legitimate action in seeking justice for torture victims. They voted on four resolutions yesterday** regarding new trials for torture victims, requesting the U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate, cutting off payments to Special Prosecutor Edward Egan for the $7 million “investigation” that produced no indictments, and passing legislation that removes any statute of limitation for torture victims. I do not yet know how the votes went.
Lastly, I just got an email returned today which assures a couple more very important interviews regarding the Burge history. I’ll provide details once things become more solid. So, the momentum continues…
***EDIT: The Board’s vote on the resolutions has been postponed until July 10th, I’m told.
