It’s proving to be a productive summer for my documentary, Shielded Brutality. Yesterday I filmed an interview with historian and esteemed civil rights advocate Reverend Calvin Morris. Dr. Morris’s commentary was deeply thoughtful, insightful, and passionate as he discussed his thoughts regarding Chicago’s history of police torture and issues of social justice in general. I am very grateful to him for taking the time to participate. Below are a couple of stills from the interview:

I also recently confirmed future interviews with two attorneys from the People’s Law Office. Few people, if any, deserve more credit than civil rights attorney Flint Taylor in unearthing Chicago’s history of police torture and advocating justice for torture victims. He and his colleagues at the People’s Law Office have been working on this issue for close to two decades, and it would be impossible to adequately discuss this history without discussing their role. I will soon be interviewing Mr. Taylor as well as his colleague Joey Mogul, herself a very important figure who has litigated on behalf of torture victims for a decade. Ms. Mogul has also focused on issues of international law given that the torture and abuse that occurred in Chicago are international human rights violations. I am looking forward to these interviews and appreciate their willingness to participate.
